ACHIEVEMENTS

  1. We have enrolled 30 children into the program and supported them in different areas, basic counseling, and facilitating growth of their spiritual lives and their well-being.
  2. HHU has now for 3 years provided educational support in terms of tuition and scholastic materials to 30 programs that supported vulnerable children every beginning of school term which includes pens, books, pencils, sets, and others such toilet paper and brooms among others etc.
  3. The organization is fully registered as per the requirement of the Ugandan government and also has a functional office with 4 volunteer staff ( Office Assistant, Child Care & Protection Officer, Spiritual Development Officer, and the Office manager)
  4. We have started the process of establishing a program school project (Hands of Hope Junior School) to fully support our program children who are still at the primary level.
  5. The organization has a running business bank account (302214000357) within Finance Trust Bank. The account has got 3 signatories and all the organization funds are kept here.
  6. We have been able to construct 2 hands dug wells for the provision of safe water to our program children and their families.

Challenges

1). As a nonprofit community-based organization, the most stressful challenge is the increased number of children who reach us looking for support, yet we also have limited resources not enough even for the 30 children we are supporting.

2). Short of a reliable funding source to effectively run our activities to fully support vulnerable children. We rely on funds raised by the church members out of their small income to put in this charity work.

3). Presently, still renting an office space in which to conduct and coordinate the organization’s activities. This becomes a challenge when the tenancy elapses at a time when funds are not available.

4). Lack of transport means like a motorcycle which would make it easy to coordinate the program activities among the beneficiaries of the program and around the community.

5). With limited with office equipment such as computers, printers, and digital cameras to help us do effective information sharing and storage. This has also affected us much in pictorial reporting as we lack a digital camera.
